For anyone that does not know, internet browsers (usually Netscape or Internet Explorer) are nearly as useful off-line as they are when connected to the internet. Using Browsers off-line for certain tasks is beneficial as it does not tax the service providers or phone lines. Reviewing received email and creating new email (often designated deferred delivery, or placed in an "outbox") can all be done off-line. It is also faster as there is no wait time for the log on/off process. The trick to using your browser off-line is to start your browser or mail program and then click Cancel (or abandon or abort) any time your browser or mail program attempts to dial and connect to the internet. Once dial-up has been canceled you are running your browser or email program off-line and can review old mail, browse internet type files (like Bragdon downloaded catalog systems), or even view gif or jpeg image files.
With this in mind, we have made Bragdon catalog systems available for downloading as a Windows (3.x, 95, 98) self extracting file that will place all of th Bragdon catalog system files in a folder on your hard drive or a 3.5 disk if designated as the target( 3.5 disks will be significantly slower).
Clarification: While on-line and "browsing the internet", your "browser" is continuously downloading internet type files and images from different web sites. For the purpose of this discussion, downloading refers to a different type of file. Usually a program or other type of file that must be invoked or run as a separate process after the file has download.
The hardest thing about downloading files from the internet is recognizing the downloaded filename and where (folder or directory) the downloaded file is being saved on your computer. As the file must be run (invoked) after the download, you must know how to locate it on your system. The first and most important step is to write down the filename that you are downloading. The next step is to write down the Folder or Directory in which the downloaded file is being stored on your hard disk. If you have these 2 pieces of information you can locate and then invoke or run the downloaded file. If I had a dollar for every downloaded file that was not found and invoked, I would be a wealthy person indeed.
How to invoke (run) the downloaded BRAGDON.EXE file:
Please Note: When the downloaded BRAGDON.EXE file has been invoked, the target filename to open with your browser is BRAGDON.HTM
If you know how to use Win 3.1 File Manager or Win 95/98 Explorer:

If you are unfamiliar with File Manager or Explorer: (or can't find BRAGDON.EXE)
If you have successfully downloaded BRAGDON.EXE to your system the following step by step procedure should find and install the Catalog System files. (this procedure will work for any file that you download if it is a self extracting or install program. Just substitute the appropriate filename.)

Additional Tips:
While browsing on-line, almost any web page may be printed by clicking File, and then Print
While browsing on-line, almost any web page may be saved for "local" viewing later by clicking File, and then Save As. You must note the file name and location to open later for off-line viewing. (images may or may not be saved depending on browser version)
Any web site image may be saved to your hard drive by right clicking (your mouse) the image. You must note the file name and location to open later for off-line viewing.
The browser "back" button will move you to a previous web page unless you are on a page that uses "frames" that will NOT let you go back. Fairly common and very impolite protocol in my opinion.
Please note that additional tips may be included here in the future.
